Let’s see, How can you Launch Appium Server from Command line. In previous tutorials, You have seen, How can you perform LongPress in Android. Now we will see, How can we Start Appium Server using Cmd.
We know How to Start or Launch the Appium Server, We have learned it in previous tutorials. We used to start Appium Node manually from Appium Interface, Now we will see how can you start the Appium from the command prompt in windows system.
Now, We need to set the path of NodeJs in the system variable. Earlier you have installed the NodeJs, Installation will create NodeJS folder at C:\Program Files\ Path.
We need to set this path(C:\Program Files\nodejs ;) as System Path Variable.
- Right-click on My Computer icon.
- Click on Properties menu.
- Click the “Advance System Setting”.
- Select the variable name “path” inside the system Variable.
- Click on the Edit button.
- Add NodeJs path C:\Program Files\nodejs ; in it and click on save.
Start Appium Server from Command Line
We have set the path of NodeJS in system path variable. Now we start the Appium form command prompt.
We have installed the Appium earlier, So you look at path C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86). There should be a folder for Appium named “Appium”. We can start appium server using the command prompt from this folder location.
- Open the command prompt.
- Now go to location “C:\Program Files (x86)\Appium\node_modules” using command –
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Appium\node_modules
Now type the command “node Appium” and press Enter key.
Wait, Your Appium Server is being started.
Once Server gets started, you will get the message –
“info: Appium REST HTTP interface listener started“
You can close the cmd or press ctrl+c to stop the Appium Server.
That means Appium server is running and we can use It to perform Android App Testing on mobile devices.
This is the way, You can start Appium server from command prompt too.
